This is my first ever review! Today, I'm going to review what is perhaps my favorite NES game (other than SMB2 of course), "Yo! Noid", which was released by Capcom back in 1990.
Initially, this game was released in Japan as a completely different game, but the title is too Japanese for me to even tell you. Now, let's look at the game, shall we? (Besides, this isn't the only liscenced fast food game i'll review)
So, the game starts with this overworld HUD as soon as you push the START button. It's pretty detailed for an NES game. However, my main criticism with this game is not the level design, but the sporadic difficulty spikes.
For instance, you can only take just ONE HIT of damage. Basically, if you try to come into contact with anything in this godforsaken game, you die instantly. Die three times and the game's over. By the way, there are continues, but you only have three of them (unlike that unforgivably hard Transformers game, which I'll review in the future), which makes it all the more fustrating. TLDR; You touch the water, you die. You touch an enemy, you die. It's just like Silver Surfer.
After you've completed the level, you have to defeat a "boss". The only catch? It's a pizza-eating competition. There's a lot of RNGS involved in these competitions, so I'd recommend using the cards that are supplied to you during these unfairly difficult boss fights.
The rest of the game is fairly straight-forward. There's athletic levels, city levels, levels where you have to fly what seems to be a heavily-modified jetpack, etc. Once you've beaten all of that, you get a nice little cutscene and the game ends.
MY RATING: 7.9/10 - The game is pretty good, but it suffers from a few glaring flaws.
